Gain Visibility: Start Checking-In

Over the past year you may have noticed a new type of update from contacts on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Your friends, family and coworkers are using check-in applications to let their network know where they are in real-time using their smartphone (example below).

Check-in applications can also highlight what you’re doing, such as attending a corporate event! Make your next event more visible by using one or all of my favorite check-in apps:

1. Facebook Places: Places lets your Facebook community know where you are by posting a message on your wall and newsfeed

2. FourSquare: FourSquare is the leader in check-in applications with over 7 million users. Users get points and badges for activity and can be shared via every popular social media site

3. Yelp: Yelp’s mobile application gives users a check-in option but also boasts a rating platform. Members can write a review on the event and or the venue using YelpMobile
