Spotlight on Success: Florian Wieder

German born Florian Wieder has been producing staging and set design for over 2 decades. But last night he may have pushed his talents to another level! Wieder was selected to design MTV’s 2011 Video Music Awards set but he is no stranger to stage design in America. Florian designed sets for the Country Music Awards, BET Awards, the Fox NFL Studio and CBS’ Let’s Make a Deal!

However, last night Wieder’s vision was to create a stage that would engage the audience both visually and by proximity. The stage boasted multiple platforms with seating for guests between structures. The set featured hundreds of lighting fixtures, high-definition screens and a group of arches placed in a row to create a tunnel (video above)!

The set was nothing short of amazing and Wieder accomplished MTV’s goal of creating a “time travel tunnel”. It’s truly an accomplishment when a set designer can both push the envelope and create his client’s vision!
